Well, we’re officially breaking that rule.
We are building Mercato because the support system for early-to-mid career professionals in the UK and Europe is completely broken. We’re sick of university promises matching up with entry-level salaries that don't even cover rent in London or Madrid. We’re sick of algorithmic recruitment software tossing pristine CVs into a black hole. And we are utterly exhausted by a performative work culture that tells us to "love the grind" while offering nothing in return.
Corporate UK and Europe doesn’t want you to have an airtight, safe space to share raw salary data, expose toxic hiring processes, or find peer mentorship that doesn’t cost £200 an hour. They want you compliant, quiet, and grateful just to be there.
We want you equipped, connected, and compensated.
We’re building this community because we lived through the exact same nonsense, looked around for help, and realised nobody was coming to save us. So, we decided to build the escape hatch ourselves.
